BEAM was coined by the famous Robotics scientist Mark W. Tilden. In Beam Robotics we can build our own robots out of distinct electronic components. We do not require any programmable chip like microprocessors or microcontrollers to control the system. Tilden's 3 laws of robotics states:

e.g Photovores-Light eating robots. They have sensors and solar cell which acts as its eyes and mouth
