Duty Cycle of a Square Wave

duty cycle

Duty Cycle=Pulse Duration/Pulse Period

Suppose Pulse duration is 5us and Pulse Period is

10us then its duty cycle can be computed as=

5/10=0.2

Hence the duty cycle of Square Wave is 0.2 or 20 %.Another e.g=Suppose there is a display which displays time for 5 secs and is off for 95 secs out of say 100 secs then its duty cycle can be computed as 5/100=0.5 or 5%.

Astable 555 Square Wave Calculator

This particular configuration is for an astable square wave calculation.

SQUARE WAVES

In other words, you may be aware that no even harmonics are present in the expansion of a square wave with a 50% duty cycle
