We can use a microcomputer along with proper hardware and software to emulate a terminal.

Advantages of Terminal Emulation

• We do not require any more terminals.
• Works with microcomputer
• We can download data onto a microcomputer and local manipulation can be done.

Disadvantages of Terminal Emulation

• Data is insecure
• Unsimilar data types on all computers or with the different software.
• Unauthorized access
• With color terminals the number and combinations of colors may be different from those present with a microcomputer.
