  1. Telnet definition

Telnet is a user based command and an underlying TCP/IP protocol for using remote computers. With help of Telnet, the super user or another user can access other's computer remotely. World Wide Web's-www, HTTP and File Transfer Protocols help us to request files from remote computers, not actually logged on as a user of that computer.

    TELNET VS FTP

Telnet is different from FTP File transfer protocol. By Telnet, we can log on as a daily user with rights we have been given to the specific applications and data on that PC.

    TELNET

A Telnet command request looks like this (the computer name is made-up):

    telnet the.libraryat.whatis.edu

Telnet is used by program developers and anyone who has a need to use specific applications or data located at a specific host computer
